Certified corporate records (certidões) come from each state’s Junta Comercial at state-set prices. Beneficial owners are reported to Receita Federal via e-BEF but are not published. Companies are identified by the 14-character CNPJ. Receita Federal issued the first alphanumeric CNPJ on 31 July 2026, while existing numeric CNPJs remain valid and new registrations may still receive numeric identifiers during the gradual rollout.

- CNPJ registration and status receipt (Comprovante de Inscrição e de Situação Cadastral), with a separate QSA consultation for partners and administrators. State commercial registries issue certidões. In Paraná, the certidão simplificada contains company name, CNPJ, address, capital, activity, partners, latest filing date/number and registration status; the certidão de inteiro teor is a digitally certified copy of filed corporate documents.
- What to know before a KYB check
- KYB systems should accept 14-character CNPJs containing letters and digits. Receita Federal issued the first alphanumeric CNPJ on 31 July 2026 and says rollout is gradual; previously issued numeric CNPJs remain valid and do not need replacement. The gov.br CNPJ consultation service requires a GOV.BR account at Silver or Gold level.
